Legal hat trick

It is rare to get a recommendation from the husband, the wife and the lawyer after a divorce, but that’s what Decision Workshops achieved. Read the testimonies below:

The husband

D Wife

“I was divorcing a husband who was filing for an IVA (the step before bankruptcy), it looked like I might get little or no money back from investments made.

Then I met Michael after a Toastmasters meeting and he decided to help me.

Michael met with me several times, each time bringing his cards with him and using his unique method to show me the options I had, and planning the next step of our strategy. At the meetings I would often role-play and rehearse the negotiations.

I found that the use of the cards, and Michael’s formal, yet understanding method, helped me plan and strategize my moves towards getting the settlement that I needed.

Michael came with me (as a Mackenzie Friend) to court and afterwards negotiated directly with my husband - he did a much better job than my first lawyer.

Michael also helped me select a new lawyer who I could work with much better than my previous one. With the aid of this lawyer, Michael helped me negotiate with a tricky ex-husband and draw up an agreement.

The net result of this was that I finally got a settlement. It is highly likely that I had not used Michael I would have got nothing back.”

D Husband

“Michael was not employed by me, but by my ex-wife. However I was impressed by the way Michael was able to bring us to an agreement.

Michael helped to bring her to understand my position, and took considerable effort to ensure that the agreement we drew up was honoured by my ex-wife as well as by me, and all loose ends were tied up nicely.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Michael for any difficult negotiating positions."

D Lawyer

"Mike is very good to deal with. He has helped me with challenging negotiations for a client and has a particularly practical side in looking at the issues and is very useful to discuss issues relating to mutual clients with someone with Mike's background outside the law, as he adds a collaborative element to the negotiations that does not always come at first hand to the legal profession.”
